Jill and I don’t agree on much, but we do agree that towel rods above the toilet are one of the dumbest things around. Not to mention gross. Every bathroom in the place we rent has one installed. What a waste.

And with that, I have returned to blogging. Face!

I can’t stand the girl with red hair on american idol, she is supposedly 16 but could be an extra on Cocoon 3 because she looks so old, or wait, on the Wilfred Brimley Di-beetes commercial.  I also don’t like the girl with the arm sleeve tattoo from Utah, she sounds like a dying bird to me, but i’m tone deaf.  And what’s iwth this one judge, is she wearing aluminum foil?  blah…

I have been seeing way too many commercials for the Duggar’s 18th child. I can’t stand the Duggar’s and think they are the creepiest family that has ever been on TV. Here is an article that sums it up better than I can.

That is why I was able to tell Jill I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that this girl was Mormon last night on Deal or no Deal.  I was thinking about what is was that made this so obvious to every fiber of my being that she was Mormon.  Here are a few:

1. Frequent use of the phrase “Oh my gosh”, and “gosh”
2. One kid already, obviously young, and pregnant with another on the way
3. Her modest clothes
4. Her over the top excitement and general weirdness

Watch the video and tell me if you see any.  I mean it was just that obvious to me last night and I had no idea she was Mormon.  I think I have done this once before as well but I’ll have to ask Jill.  I guess I just think it’s funny/interesting how people that are LDS and usually from Utah stick out like a sore thumb anywhere outside of Utah.  For another example see the latest contestant kicked of Project Runway, the gay Mormon guy with a horrible, horrible Utah accent.  There Spencer a new blog!!

That is basically what they told the real singer of the song in the opening ceremonies.  Sort of a strange Milli Vanilli moment there at the Olympics for the Chinese.  Too bad she’s not from the US because here you can still be a star even if you have nasty snaggle teeth.

I like finding new cool sites for anything I think could be done better on the web.  I think this site, Wikinvest, does a great job of combining Wikipedia, which I use all the time and Google Finance/Yahoo Finance which I also use all the time.  We’ll see how it turns out.  The key with sites like this is user base, and I guess beyond that, intelligent user base.  If you can’t get enough users it won’t matter how cool of an idea you have.

A recent ‘cool’, but horribly implemented and executed site, Cuil.  What a disaster.

Finallly Jill and I are the proud new owners a digital camera.  We got a Panasonic DMC-TZ5, we haven’t really used it yet, but hopefully it turns out to be a great camera.  If you didn’t know the last one is right here.

So we have all seen the episode of The Office where Michael drives his car into a lake because the GPS tells him to.  We have also recently had a great movie Wall-E try and teach us the dangers of relying to heavily on technology and not on our own minds.  Apparently this guy did not get the ‘memo’, great job!

So you may think that croquet isn’t a sport, and well, you may be right.  Your opinion may change when you read quotes like this “The game really is like chess on grass; more than half of the effort that goes into winning a match is in your head“  and this:  “I’ve taught several hundred students over the past fifteen years. I don’t expect them to continue to play, but some just want to take it to the next level” from the players and coach of the National Collegiate Croquet Tournament.

I didn’t even know there was a ‘next level’ in croquet, did you?

I have to say I am actually a big croquet fan.  I grew up playing croquet at the Ord’s and always loved it.  I looked forward to the croquet games at Craig and Denise’s when I got older as well.  The last few times at Jill’s parents I have convinced them to bring out the croquet set to play.

To finish I give my congrats to the Davidson Boys(?) for winning last year and wonder if Under Armor knows they make semi-pro croquet uniforms.

Many dead in Bolivian bus crash story.

It doesn’t help that Bolivia is home to the world’s most dangerous road.  This glorious distinction is not just in name alone, it was actually determined by the Inter American Development Bank.  I know a bunch of people that have been down this road and told me stories of wheels right on the edge of the road and drivers almost nodding off.  I personally would be pretty pumped to ride down this thing on a mountin bike although it says 13 people have died that way too.
